Exhibition introduction

The exhibition Flavor of the Sun, hosted by LINLI Art Space with academic support from Project UCA (Unlimited Contemporary Art), presents a series of works by Li Dongxia exploring Chinese woodblock printing and persimmon-dyed summer cloth through a contemporary artistic perspective.

Persimmon dyeing is a traditional technique derived from nature, known for its durability. In the exhibition text, it embodies respect for nature and a reflection on life, the natural world and human civilisation, expressing the possibility of harmonious coexistence between people and nature.

In Flavor of the Sun, Li Dongxia brings traditional woodblock printing into dialogue with organic fabrics and plant-based dyes, creating textiles that interact with light, air and water. Her works invite viewers to contemplate the interplay between nature and humanity and, through their patterns and colours, to reflect on their own relationship with the natural world.
