IDEAS: TRANS MATTER
The ideas of light embodied in solid materials, such as metals and layers of paint, are not expected to be accepted indiscriminately by everyone. Nor are viewers asked to endorse or blindly believe what is presented in this way.
Instead, an ongoing exploration is proposed into this inseparable fusion of matter and light, called trans materia by Vladimir S. Solovyov.
“The essential content of beauty consists of ideas […] as objective expressions (objectifications) of the universal will.” — Vladimir S. Solovyov
In 1968, Lucy Lippard and John Chandler proclaimed the dematerialisation of the art object, heralding the dawn of conceptual art. The artwork thus moved from the tangible realm to the intangible. Ideas became the new energy evoked by matter and employed in an artistic process that had moved away from creating physical objects. Time, place and light became essential to this new form of experiential art.
The surfaces presented in oil on small-format canvases are biochemical processes that translate, from a neurosynaptic perspective, into circuits of light.
The prints on display, generated from engraved matrices that the artist then inked and printed on paper in distinct, unique impressions, reveal expanding centres of energy, like questions seeking expansion, improvement and deeper understanding. In this sense, ideas are represented as material energy.
